When your name has been on violins longer than Beethovens name has been on symphonies, you're not going to fiddle around with tradition. Thats why Meisel's new electric violin, the Spitfire J-2 manfactured by Neo, maintains the rich sound quality and value the 350 year-old String instrument maker is known for, even as it breaks new ground in technology and design. The uniquely shaped body is formed from impact resistant, engineered plastic. The neck is made of a composite, but features a full sized solid ebony fingerboard. Because these materials are so durable, this reasonably priced instrument is ideal for the road musician. In addition to being war zone friendly this violin is weather resistant. It will not be harmed by sudden temperature and humidity changes. The high-impedance humbucking pickup is very quiet and virtually eliminates all surface and bow noise. Unlike a typical transducer, it has a full and balanced sound. A volume control is mounted on the top of the violin and the built-in 1/4 inch jack accepts any standard guitar cord. Meisel chrome steel strings are standard equipment and respond extremely well to the pickup system. Other features include a fully adjustable metal tailpiece, adjustable(height) bridge, solid ebony pegs, chinrest and endpin. Provision is made for the attachment of almost any shoulder rest. The instrument is proportioned to fit all full sized Violin cases. The J-2 is available in black, white, gray, steel blue or bright red.
