This is an absolutely delightful, handcrafted wooden Swiss Chalet by Jobin. It plays "The Blue Danube Waltz" on a Swiss Reuge 18 note mechanism. It is a vintage piece, in mint condition and measures 7" x 5" x 6" high. It predates the early 1990s, when Reuge stopped supplying other companies with their smaller mechanisms (and in fact, later ceased their 18 note production altogether).
This particular Chalet by Jobin, is a two story house with an abundance of detail, complete with shutters and flowered balconies, sporting a climbing shrub, a bench and water trough in front with meandering flower beds in bright fresh colors. Really a gem for its age.
Its previous owner or owners had to have kept their collection enclosed in a Cabinet.
It is also apparent that the bright red velvet lined trinket compartment which is revealed when you lift its roof, was never used.
In addition to all of this, there are the three revolving (twirling) couples that rotate, in and out of the house as the music plays.
As Chalets go, this is a find!
