Just for those who might not know: Pointe shoes are special shoes that allow ballerinas to dance on their toes. Ballet is about creating beautiful lines and shapes with our bodies, and pointe shoes extend our lines and give a sense of lightness and the illusion that we’re floating on air.
Pointe technique is part of classical ballet that a young ballerina aspires to. As it is, she must wait until her bones are mature enough to withstand the pressure. It involves the advanced technique that concerns pointe work, in which a ballet dancer supports all body weight on the tips of her toes (fully extended feet) when wearing pointe shoes.
