Rare and Economical Reuge Carousel Mosque in Wine Red.
A golden cherub plays his violin atop this Porcelain-look-a-like Reuge Carousel made of polymer. It is in excellent condition. An early Reuge Vintage Carousel probably an attempt at economy. A female mandolin/guitar or male recorder player under the stars decorate every other door While gold bouquets of roses adorn the base.
It plays one of their most popular classical double melody Reuge combinations. A minuet by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Minuetto by Luigi Boccherini. The 6 doors open to reveal another violinist-cherub giving you time to reach for a candy mint stick or delight in seeing some mini-flowers perhaps. Originally meant to dispense cigarettes, you can use it to hold some lipsticks.
Educated guess dates this piece to late 1940's to early 50's, made in Switzerland. Dimensions: approximately 7" in diameter and stands 15' high. The image looks a bit purple but it is definitely wine red.
