Circa 1950s, this miniature French Provincial Style Parlor musical box of olden days, was designed by Fred Zimbalist, an esteemed harmonica player and musician. He and Ephrem Zimbalist, Sr. (the famed concert violinist) were cousins.
Silver flowers and leaves engraved on brass, such as this one were all hand tooled in India and rarely, were two exactly the same. This Sweet music box has graceful provincial legs to compliment its graceful body of 5" x 3.5" and stands 4" high. It's movement is concealed in its lid and plays an older Sankyo mini movement mechanism. Lift the lid and if it's been wound, hear "Dark Eyes as you reveal a little jewelry compartment lined in blue velvet. The music will end when you close the lid, if you don't allow it to wind down first.
