From the Norman Rockwell Museum This New, with Papers, 1983, limited edition #5313, is a Sweet 10" Silent Ceramic tankard depicting Norman Rockwell's "The Music Lesson" (on accordion with a violin on the side) in raised motif.
This sweet scene of an old sea Capitan showing a youngster who may have set his violin down, how to play the accordion just warms the heart! Beautiful scenery in the background includes a country fence and barn in the foreground with hills and a lighthouse with sailboats and a marina in the distance under a beautiful blue sky.
The art work, as certified by the Norman Rockwell Museum, is a faithful reproduction of Rockwell's work originally published in "The Literary Digest" in 1921. The image here does not do it justice. The handle is in the shape of a lighthouse sprouting from a green covered ground with trees in the background. Even the Collector's box, in which the stein, set in its Styrofoam cradle is packaged, renders delight, featuring a fiddle and music along side the stein.
