Exceptionally handsome miniature version of an original Shaker oval box. This particular box was apparently repaired, the mechanism being replaced with a lovely Sankyo gold Mechanism that plays "Simple Gifts." They originally were produced with Swiss (Reuge) movements, as shown in image, playing the well-known Shaker hymn. This box is clear cherry wood with solid copper tacks and a hand-rubbed oil finish. Stamped on bottom "Canterbury Works, N.H. USA"
