Zimbalist Egg Shaped Geodesic Ring Music Box

This especially interesting and collectible, architectual piece, a geodesic egg, (if you will) was designed by Fred Zimbalist, a cousin of Ephrem Zimbalist, Sr. (the famed concert violinist). Silver pieces such as this one were all hand tooled in India and no two were exactly the same.
This one seems to be unique. We haven't come upon one like this (as yet). It stands 3 3/4" high, approximately 3 1/2 " wide side to side and 3" back to front (not including front knob).
It's 18 note Thorens mechanism plays Lara's theme (from the movie Dr. Zhivago, 1965) and is placed behind a lovely mini Asian painting of a graceful tree by the side of a lake or stream whereby four swans glide and mountains rise in the distance.
In fabulous condition, brass with silver nickel plating, features ornate tooling, and a ring compartment. It will be an interesting piece where ever it is placed and/or a lovely addition to your collection.
